Flowers of South Africa
The Cape Floristic Region has the word flower in its name for a reason. This area of South Africa has some of the highest levels of plant biodiversity in the world!
Most of the plant life in this biodiversity hotspot is part of fynbos-- this is an Afrikaans word describing evergreen shrublands that thrive in the area's rocky, sandy soils. But there is also an enormous diversity of grasses, flowers and bulbs, many of which are endemic to the Cape Floristic Region-- that means they can only be found in this one particular area in the entire world. In fact, in this one tiny space, there are over 9000 species of plants, a whopping 69% of which cannot be found anywhere else on the planet!

The Namaqualand's flowers is famous in South Africa, but seeing flowers in the Klein Karoo semi-desert region is just as magnificent and even rarer. How to make African Fabric flowers bringing Africa to your house (Ankara).
Making flowers using African fabric
Decorating your house with African fabric is an opportunity to bring Africa /Afrika closer to you. Having a house that reflects your culture more, your lifestyle and believes.
When stiffen, the African fabric can be given any shape.
To start pour the mix into a large bowl:
1/ 2 cups of PVA glue with 1 cup of water in a box just to dilute it a bit (depending on how the PVA's thickness).
2/ Soak in a piece of fabric by example 60cm*60cm (I cut them in small sizes to be able to fold and cut them easily).
3/ Leave it to dry, once dry iron if needed.
4/Use one the template to cut the fabric to the size wanted.
Why don't you give a go?
See you soon for many more ideas.
Thank you for your love and support.

The Namaqualand's flowers is famous in South Africa, but seeing flowers in the Klein Karoo semi-desert region is just as magnificent and even rarer. More info on some of these flowers:
Vygies are a family of jewel-like plants that are in full flower during August/September.
Vygies – or mesembryanthemums – are truly South Africa’s most colourful plant group. Their silky-textured flowers – in just about every colour of the rainbow – will give an extraordinary luminosity to any border. With more than 1 800 species from which to choose, whatever your taste in plants and garden design, there will be a vygie to suit your fancy.
The widely used Afrikaans name vygie – which literally means ‘small fig’ – is based on the fact that the top-like fruiting capsule also resembles a small fig. The best know spring-flowering vygies are the Drosanthemum, Delosperma and Lampranthus species. They include many small shrub-like plants as well as groundcovers, and have an enormous range of flower colours.
Lampranthus species have smooth leaves, and large, shiny flowers. Delospermaspecies have conspicuous seed compartments, whilst the leaves of Drosanthemum species differ from those above because of their dew-like shiny cells on the epidermis – hence their common name, ice plant.
The Livingstone daisy or Bokbaai vygie (Dorotheanthus bellidiformis) and yellow-bloomed vetkousie (Carpanthea pomeridiana ‘Golda’) are also spring-flowering but as they are both annuals, their seeds must be sown in autumn.
Mat-forming vygies that grow easily in Cape gardens are the white to pink coastal vygie (Delosperma litorale), yellow carpet vygie (Jordaaniella dubia), pink carpet vygie (Jordaaniella anemoniflorus), pink Oscularia deltoides and magentacoastal ruschia (Ruschia macowanii).
Shrubby, cushion-shaped or spreading vygies that grow easily are magenta-bloomed Darling vygie (Lampranthus amoenus), orange vygie (Lampranthus aureus), yellow vygie (Lampranthus glaucus), pink to magenta(Lampranthus multiradiatus), pink to magenta rose vygie (Lampranthus roseus), yellow-pink bell vygie (Drosanthemum bellum), pink coast carpet (Drosanthemum candens), pink Drosanthemum hispidum, yellow and red Worcester vygie (Drosanthemum speciosum), magenta Paarl rose vygie (Erepsia lacera) and magenta Piketberg vygie (Erepsia pillansii).

Reserve and Flora
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is 2500 hectares in size and is an exquisite destination 'off the beaten track'. Guests can pamper themselves in the five-star lodge while always having the opportunity to appreciate the serenity of the natural landscape that the lodge is embedded in.
Grootbos began in 1991 as a small private farm of 123 hectares that had alien vegetation and animals grazing. With a relentless ardour for the natural environment Grootbos was transformed into a 2500 hectare reserve that is a pioneer in conservation of the natural bio-diversity. This area has blossomed into a thriving natural utopia that has pockets of rare Afromontane and Milkwood forests with rolling valleys awash with fynbos that has 765 different plant species on Grootbos. Through a comprehensive vegetation survey (one of the few thorough documentations ever conducted on fynbos) Grootbos discovered this astounding diversity and found six plants completely new to science. The Erica Irregularis is the most famous on Grootbos because when winter begins the valleys are overflowing with the pastel pinks and purples of the swaying bulbs of the Ericas. Of the 9250 species in the Cape Floristic Region 70% cannot be found anywhere else in the world and seven species cannot be found outside the walls of Grootbos.
The wonder of this natural haven does not stop at the fynbos however. The sweet nectar of the fynbos wildflowers attracts almost 120 different species of birds and 30% of these are endemic to Southern Africa. The Milkwood forest is full of intrigue and ancient tales as the gnarled branches can continue to grow for up to 1000 years. This ancient forest is incredibly rare and four of these Milkwood forests are protected on Grootbos.
Grootbos is a luxury five-star eco-lodge, but for all the fine dining, immaculate suites and interior comforts the nature is the primary wonder that is the beating heart of Grootbos. Discover this incredible, untamed area of the Western Cape atop a horse, by foot or on a 4x4 flower safari. With Grootbos the adventure never ends.
